Painted at Graffiato Street Art Festival Taupo - the theme of this mural is to honor the people of the Tūwharetoa Iwi. The Kahu is their kaitiaki (guardian), the 3 maunga (Tongariro, Ruapehu, Ngauruhoe) are represented using the kaokao pattern. The sacred maunga/mountains (grey), lake Taupo (dark blue), Iwi (greens) & the people (red/black) are a graphic interpretation. Charles' grandfather is from this region & it was a privilege to paint this mural on the whenua. A huge thanks to Ross Liew, Sarah & the team for looking after us so well :)
